Our Racing Heritage:
1983 - 1989 We crewed for Rick Hurst Racing, starting in 83 with a SSGT 944, winning in both SCCA Central Florida
Regional and National events. We then ran the same car in the SCCA Playboy Endurance Challenge. Running 6, 12 and
24 hour races all over the country. Finishing 1st in class and winning the Championship Series. Then moved to two cars,
an 83 Porsche 944 and an 85 1/2 Porsche 944, sponsored by BFGoodrich. Next came a 944 S (16 valve). Then, the firs
Turbo in 1986. Then two club sport turbos.
After being involved with a professional Porsche Racing Team, we wanted to start driving ourselves. Along came a 914
that we prepared for Porsche Club Drivers Education events. That was fun, but still craved the competition of real racing.
We quickly determined that competition Porsches were out of our upstart budget. So we turned to Volkswagens, bought
a Scirocco with a blown motor and in need of a lot of cosmetic work. We stripped it and began to develop an autocross car.
Autocrossing was fun, but the track time was not enough. We decided to turn it into an SCCA ITC (Improved Touring Class)
race car. Getting the SCCA Competition License was a dream come true. We finally got on the track and raced. Once hooked,
there was no turning back. We ran Regional and Endurance 'IT' races until 2001, when there was a rule change, we moved
up to H Production. With SCCA allowing our car in, we were the 1st HP Scirocco running National races in the southeast. In
2003 we were the H Production Points Champion for our region.
Expanding our inventory of race cars, we built a Mark 2 Jetta sedan and into G Production. Everything we learned from the
HP car, we applied to the G car. Right from the beginning we removed sound deadening material and had a custom roll cage
built to our specifications. This again was a cutting edge car and was one of the 1st Production Golf/Jetta cars. The first year
finishing 2nd in points, then winning the Championship in 2005.
Meanwhile, we were involved with Alex Job Racing and Genisis Racing for several Daytona 24 hour races. In 1995 we crewed
for a Mazda GTU. In 1999 a World Sports Car Chevy Kudzu, and both Scandia Art Car Buick Kudzu's in HSR. 2000 & 01 brought
a pair of M3's for the 24. 2006 we started a G Production Scirocco in National Races. As well as winning both SCCA Regional
Points and SARRC Championships in 2008. We continue to campaign the GP National Scirocco, HP Jetta and have reconfigured
the HP Scirocco back to an ITC racer to compete in both regional and Endurance races. We currently own 3 race cars, one being
the 944 that started it all in 1983.
